Deviance Blog 5 (Due December 4, 2009)

Read the article "How Old is Old Enough?" at http://www.nytimes.com/2009/11/15/weekinreview/15ramp.html?scp=1&sq=Teenage%20Crime&st=cse then answer these questions:
1.) What age should be the age of adulthoold? Explain your answer.
2.) When do you cross over from being a deviant to being a deliquent? Explain.
3.) Should teens be sentenced to life without parole in non-murder cases? Justify your answer.

  1. 1. Honestly, I think that being an adult is when someone takes on the responsibilities of an adult. So when a person lives on their own, pays bills, etc. However, I don't think this should apply when breaking the law.

2.That for me mostly depends on how severe the act is. Like the little things that can be overlooked are being deviant. But the severe things that need punishment, thats when you have a deliquent on your hands.

3.It depends on the case. For example, the case where the 13 year old raped someone, that should be a life sentence without parole.

  2. 1.) I believe that the age for adulthood should be different for different people, because it is true that we don't mature the way that we are suppose to, but in the 19th century children were leaving home at 18 years old and not looking back for help from parents, as for now-a-days children are dependent on their parents because parents don't want their children to leave them when they turn 18, and break their hearts, while other parents don't care when their child leaves home.

2.) When you're deviant it is different from peaing a deliquent, I think a deliquent is someone who breaks a major deviant more than twice, like stealing from a store on purpose.

3.) Yes and no, yes because some crimes commited by under age children are needed for that punishment so that they won't ever do it again, and no because some of them wouldn't know what the real world would look like, and they may try to escape, or they maybe able to clean up their acts.

  3. 1.) What age should be the age of adulthoold? Explain your answer.
I think it all depens on maturty...when someone is mature enough to care for others and less on themselfs as well as accept the responisibality for their action.....paying bill and lving on their own does not make someone an adult nor does physical apperence or age.. there are somepeople who will never be considere an adult..
2.) When do you cross over from being a deviant to being a deliquent? Explain.I think its based on how suviere the crime is as well becasue something are not that big a deal no matter how old the person is who commeted it.
3.) Should teens be sentenced to life without parole in non-murder cases? Justify your answer. NO deff not because teens dont think thing through ..they do thing based on peers, adrialian or pure stupiedy...they are able to comprehend the effect of their action ...the should ge to jail to try to be rehabilated to learn hey if I do this i could end up in jail again and maby that time for good.

  4. 1.) What age should be the age of adulthoold? Explain your answer.
I think it depends on the maturity of the specific person in question. The law says 18 but I personally believe for most people that is way too early.
2.) When do you cross over from being a deviant to being a deliquent? Explain. It depends on the crime commited by that person and their actual acknowledgement on the consquences of that crime. This should be determined by experienced psychologists.

3.) Should teens be sentenced to life without parole in non-murder cases? Justify your answer. It depends. Like I said above.

    - i think that adulthood shoule be 18. i think this because 18 is just a good age. your getting into new stuff and by the time you turn 18 you have def. learned whats right and whats wrong.

2.) When do you cross over from being a deviant to being a deliquent? Explain.
    - well it all deppends on the deliquent and the crime that was made.

3.) Should teens be sentenced to life without parole in non-murder cases? Justify your answer.
    - no, i think not. i think this because were just teenagers still learning and we deserve a second chance.

  8. 1.) What age should be the age of adulthoold? Explain your answer.
I have mixed feelings on this question. I do think that alot of younger people are sentenced to jail are for insignificant reasons. But then again, at what point are people accountable for their actions? At what point should they be sentenced as an adult. I think when a person is accountable for their actions, and bills and payments and everything else, so possibly 21. But, again, I'm half and half about this question because some laws I think should be lowered, and some made higher.

2.) When do you cross over from being a deviant to being a deliquent? Explain.

When you misbehave in class or school or out in public, thats deviance. when you break the law and rape someone, its unlawful and should have consequences; I think that every person should be different. But then again, if this is the case, then the whole system of court would take forever. Either way, its a lose lose situation.

3.) Should teens be sentenced to life without parole in non-murder cases? Justify your answer.
I think if you steal something, you should have parole. You didn't physically hurt someone. You did break the law, but you didn't hurt someone (emotionally or physically) or kill them. Serial killers murdering people and an 18 year old boy who stole something are two different people, two different cases.

  9. 1.) I think the age of an adult should stay at 18. But as for other age rules, i think it depends on your age to get to do/have things.
    Such as when you drink/drive.

2.) i think deviance is just breaking common social norms. Basic rules. being a deliquent means that you break laws often and have been or working twords going to jail. Deliance is basic defiance. Deliguence is worse by far.

3.) Absolutley not! The only way you should get life is if you take somebody else's life. So if its a nonmurder case, no matter the age, they shouldn't get life. and it depends on the crime, i think most teens should have a chance for parole. You know we're young and stupid at this age and i'm sure most teens regret what they did. Parole would give them a chance to start over as an adult.

  10. 1) Although different individuals mature at various rates in their lifetime, the transformation from childhood to adulthood should legally remain 18 years. At the age of 18, a teenager is capable of understanding responsibility and accepting independence.
    2) Young adults pass over from being a deviant to a deliquent when they fully grasp responsibilities for their actions, maturity, and controlling behavioral impulses.
    3) I firmly agree that teenagers should NOT be sentenced to life without parole for a crime that is not homocidal. As the article stated, "young people develope logical reasoning before they develope impulse control." Therefore, teens can recognize inappropriate behavior before they can handle the urges and social pressures to participate in crime.

    3. i think that if it was an attempted murder yes. otherwise no because they didn't hurt anyone. well it really depends on the circumstance.

  12. 1)I think age dosent matter but maturity and responsibilty does. When someone is considered an adult they are mature and responsible.
2)I think you are divient when you do something small like lie or cheat. But when you break the law or do something severe you are a delinquient.
3)For me it really depends on the situation. Teenagers are old enough to know the difference from right or wrong. Although teenagers may not be mature or responsible, they know that if they do something bad their will be cosequences. So i think it depends on the circustances.

    ReplyDelete
  13. 1)I think people are adults when they are muture and can take on certian responsiblities.
2)A person is divient when they do something minor like lie or cheat. A deliquent is when someone is breaking a law or violating some type of law.
3)For me it depends on the circumstance. Teenagers are old enough to know right from wrong so we know if we violate a law there will be a consequence. But other then that i really dont know.

  14. 1.) While it is completely true that different people mature at different rates, I think that the set age of 18 is completely logical and should remain. When one comes to the age of 18, a teenager should be able to realize what new responsibilities they have been given and which ones still remain with them. That level of understanding isn't something too hard to ask for.
2.) When you misbehave in class or break a common social norm, that's being deviant. When you break a law, and/or must be punished for your actions, that's when you go up a level and become a deliquent. And hopefully, that punishment will help you learn.
3.) No. They didn't take a life so why sentence them for one? By the time they are in court, they probably would have (or should have) realized what they did was wrong. More times than not, teenagers are influenced by their peers and act upon impulse. Their home life helps contribute to the latter.

  15. 1.) What age should be the age of adulthoold? Explain your answer.
I think the age of adulthood should be 18 because that is when you start to work and pay for your own things. You pretty much live the real world.
2.) When do you cross over from being a deviant to being a deliquent? Explain.
It depends on the crime commited by that person and their consquences of that crime.

3.) Should teens be sentenced to life without parole in non-murder cases? Justify your answer.
It depends on the teen and what they have done.

  16. 1.it depend if your 27 living in you moms basement not doing anything then your not really an adult
if your 18 living on your own doing fine with out to many problems your an adult

2.once you do a crime that you get punished for / you dont have to be caught

3.well im not a judge but if it was really bad likecause someone to be paralyzed or something like that maybe but i dont know how an adult would even be put on that it just depends on how an adult would be charger

  17. When I posted my previous blog I misunderstood question number 3 and associated a deliquent with a 'juvenile'.

    Oops. Careless mistake :)

    Re-do?
    3) Deviants pass over to a deliquent when they break minor social norms that are considered an acceptable standard in society and then it gradually results into a complete neglect of the law. Deliquents are more thought of as criminally involved young adults, while deviants are just more disruptive of the social order (violate social norms.)

  18. 1.) What age should be the age of adulthoold? Explain your answer.
Well i think like it is today, 18. I mena this for everything too, like drinking, car rentals, voting, etc. In most cases teens already see 18 as adult and when they are told no to vote, or rent a hotel, drink etc. it's bound to cause deviance. :)

2.) When do you cross over from being a deviant to being a deliquent? Explain.
Well, its obvious, when the action causes or could lead to harm to another person. People are basically got to ask themselves, is a life more important or a sportscar? To me killing someone is more delinquent than vanalizes a sportscar.

3.) Should teens be sentenced to life without parole in non-murder cases? Justify your answer.
I do not believe this is fair. Like Mrs. Hall has said before, teens frontal lobes are not fully developed at this age, they can do things that may make sense at the moment and not at the next, its an impulse factor. I thinks its ridiculas to ruin a teens life just because he or she makes a bad decision n impulse.

    ReplyDelete
  19. 1.) What age should be the age of adulthoold? i think the age of adulthood isnt the same for everyone. your an adult when you can take on the responsibilities and adult takes on. When you can support your selfs and make rational desicions and such. But if i had to choose an age i say 18 because if you can choose to fight for your country then you should be an adult.
2.) When do you cross over from being a deviant to being a deliquent? Explain. When he abuses the rules/laws continuously and exceedingly. When they murder on purpose or harm others on purpose.
3.) Should teens be sentenced to life without parole in non-murder cases? Justify your answer. If they didnt murder then no. If they tried to and didnt succeed then maybe depending on the situation. I think they should be able to finish school in prison and if they shape up in about 15 to 30 years then let them out with circumstances. But if they did what they did because of the way their parents raised them they shouldnt be punished with life. They should be put in a place like Three Rivers, or a place that can teach them right from wrong and can provide therapy to help them cope with what happened to them by their parents.

  20. 1.)i dont really feel there is an age for it somethings in life you just have to grow up for but supposely 24 is when you learn to make rational decisions.
2.)When he breaks the rules/laws continuously. When they murder on purpose or harm others on purpose.

3.)i think that it really depends but i think we dont make responsible decisions at our age. but i do think there should be some kind of punishment but maybe not life w/o parole

    ReplyDelete
  21. 1) i don't think there's a set age. i believe it's different in different people - i'd say once you stop maturing - socially, mentally, and physically. that way you're old enough to make rational decisions and also be responsible for yourself and live on your own.
    2) that line is crossed when somebody is hurt i think. you can be as non-conformist as you want, but as soon as you put somebody else in danger, you're a deliquent.
    3) i think every situation is different. but i'd say no because when you're a teen, your brain still hasn't fully developed so the teen in question might not have that ability to control their inhibitions. and if you haven't killed anybody, i don't think you would deserve life without parole. i think.

    ReplyDelete
  22. 1.) What age should be the age of adulthoold? Explain your answer.
I think the age of adulthood should be different for everyone. Because everyone develops and matures at a different rate. But, I do agree that 18 is a pretty good age, even though most 18 year olds still depend on their parents for certain things.

2.) When do you cross over from being a deviant to being a deliquent? Explain.
I think deviant is when someone does smaller things that people can over look, and being a deliquent is when people do much greater things.

3.) Should teens be sentenced to life without parole in non-murder cases? Justify your answer.
I don't think teenagers should because we are not usually capable of fully thinking of our desicons that we make. But, of course there should be some sort of punishment but I do not think life is the answer.

    ReplyDelete
  23. 1.) For some reason people seem to believe that at 18 you have fully matured. This, in my opinion, is very idiotic. Even at the age of 25 there are some people that can't control there impulses, nor do they want to. How can that be considered adult? I believe that the age of adulthood should be changed for each person.
2.) You cross the line when you know what your doing is wrong, you know the consequences, and you continue to break norms and laws.
3.) It depends on the cause of the crime. For example, I saw a report on a crime where a young boy saw his family friend rape his younger brother and sister. As the man took the zip tie off of the boy, he sprung into action and slammed a bookshelf down onto the man to disable him. The adult man suffered brain damage and claimed that the young boy fabricated the entire story. When the boy was in court they sentenced him to 25 years. He is spending 25 years of his life for protecting his family, consider if he was forced to serve a life term. This would emotionally and socially harm him and his siblings. It would make them believe that if you just lie down and accept life, you will be successful. It once again is another thing that is changed for circumstances. For instance, what if the boy did make it up, should he serve life then?

  24. 1.) What age should be the age of adulthoold? Explain your answer.
i think the age of adulthood should be around 20. because you should get a taste of living on your own and paying your own bills a being independent before your considered an adult.
2.) When do you cross over from being a deviant to being a deliquent? Explain.
when the deviant is over the top and you can get in big time trouble.
3.) Should teens be sentenced to life without parole in non-murder cases? Justify your answer.
no. if no one is harmed then its not bad enough for life without parole.

    ReplyDelete
  25. 1. I think that the age of adulthood should be 18 because that is the age when you start to go your own way and pay for your own things.

    2. When laws are broken and bad things are being done by that person continuosly.

    3. I dont beleive so because teens are not fully developed in the frontal lobe of their brain and therefore, shouldent be held responsible and receive such a punishment.

~well yes and no. Yes, because they did commit a crime, and everyone deserves the same punishment. and No, because somethings could be on accident( like things talked about in class) and teens havent gotten a chance to live the life they were given and depending on the crime then it should be debated.

I don't think an age can be put on it really. Basically the age where someone matures themself and can handle the responsibilities of living on their own.
2.) When do you cross over from being a deviant to being a deliquent? Explain.
When you've severely broken laws or eventually are caught for acts of deviance.
3.) Should teens be sentenced to life without parole in non-murder cases? Justify your answer.
It's dependant on the situation. Most of the time no, only in certain extreme cases where perhaps a teen has beaten, raped, cause significant harm to another.

  32. 1.I think a person becomes an adult once they are not dependent on their parents. For most people, that's about when you get out of college, maybe even high school.I mean, once you're out of college, you have many resposibilities, like finding a good job that can pay the rent and the bills.
2.You've crossed the lines from deviant to deliquent once you've committed more serious crimes and you've been caught numerous times.
3.I think it depends on the crime. But mostly, I don't think teens should be sentenced to life in non-murder situations. There's still time for those teens to be rehabilitated and have a decent life.

    ReplyDelete
  33. 1.)Teens should become an adult in there early twenties, when you are still 18 and 19 you are still coming out of high school, a lot of people are still immature and very much dependent on there parents. when they slowly go to college and get away from there parents support is when a teeanger officially becomes an adult.
2.)A deviance can either be bad or good, bad deviances are things that cannot get you in trouble with the law.
3.)It depends on the crime, if you try to murder someone and do not succeed then yes, you should be sentence to life without parole because, if your intent is proven, you tried to kill them and you should not be let out back on the streets. Also if youm are a child molestor, there is no way that a child molestor can get caught go to jail for however long they go for come out and not do that again, they are a danger to every child and should be sentence to life without parole.

    ReplyDelete
  34. 1.I think older than 18 because some teeens haven't matured even though you think they would some haven't and some just dont want to get away from their parents and being on there own.
    2.When you do a crime
3.I think it depends on the certain situation because they could of did something very bad and might just have to be sentenced to life or they probably did something very small and should not have to face that problem

  35. 1) Like the article mentioned, there is no real set age for a youth to become an adult. However, 18 is a good age; around that time they know right from wrong and somewhat know themselves. They might not be financially stable but thats what parents & relatives are for.

    2) You cross from beign a deviant to a delinquint when your deviant actions land you in a lot of trouble i.e. jail, or when your deviance is so different from social norms -especially negative deviance.

    3) I think it depends on each case but in general teens should not get life without parole for non-murder cases. However, the more crimes the teen commits the closer they could be to life without parole.

2.) When do you cross over from being a deviant to being a deliquent? Explain. i think that the cross over happens when a person clearly steps over the line of what is accepted. i think once someone steals and gets caught or repeats an action tehy are a deliquent. a deviant is just someone who does something minor and never gets caught.
3.) Should teens be sentenced to life without parole in non-murder cases? 3. it depends on what they did, if they did something bad enough then yes i beleive so.

  39. 1. I don't think there can be a set age on when a person can accept responsibilities for their actions but age 18 seems reasonable.

    2. I think the change from being a deviant to a deliquent is when a person breaks a formal sanction of the law and police have to step in because it violates a formal norm.

    3. No because they didn't take someone's life away so the government shouldn't take their life away just because they're a deliquent. They could turn out to change and be a good person. But it also depends on the situation.

  40. 1.) What age should be the age of adulthoold? Explain your answer.

That is a difficult question to answer because most people graduate high school at 18, but there are MANY 18 year olds that aren't mature enough to make responsible decisions for themselves. Some people do mature faster than others though. I believe the legal age has to be 18 because that is when many teenagers go off to college alone and they are forced to make their own decisions. However, I do believe that some teenagers are better off than others.

2.) When do you cross over from being a deviant to being a deliquent? Explain.

It depends on what social norm is being broken by the deviant. If it is something very minor such as skipping school or talking back to your parents, that does not qualify someone as a delinquent. If the deviant is breaking laws such as smoking weed, doing drugs, drinking and driving under the influence, i believe that makes them a delinquent.

3.) Should teens be sentenced to life without parole in non-murder cases? Justify your answer.

I don't believe so. If they didn't take someone's life away then why should they be in jail for the rest of their lives? Unless they have had the same offense multiple times. It IS necessary, however, to have justice. If someone didn't murder someone, but they did beat them within an inch of their life and raped them, they definitely deserve a long sentence in prison.

2.) When a law or laws has been broken is when you cross to deliquent.
3.) I dont know. I think it depends on the situation. Say maybe like something to do with rape then yeah. But other situations like doing drugs, no. Im not really sure.

2.) i think you cross over when you are doing harm to others

3.) I don't think they should unless they just have a horrible record because all teens make bad choices in high school.

  47. 1. i think the age of adutlhood should be whenever the person is mature enough and grown up enough to know whats right and whats wrong in a grown up manner
    2. you cross over from being a deviant to a deliquent whenever you brake the law
    3. i think it depends on the severity of the crime if they have beaten someone so bad that they are on life support or something that bad then yes but if it is something not as serious like armed robbery then no

  48. 1. I do not think there is a specific age that makes you an adult. I think when an individual is capable of making it in their own and can make good decisions then they are an adult.
    2. When you begin to do things that harm others or that are extreme. When you are harming people or animals then it is no longer just being deviant.
    3. I think it depends on the crime. If they are a repeat rapist or child molester then yes. If you let someone who has been put in jail for a horrible crime then they are going to come out of jail only knowing how to do harm to society.

  49. 1. we mature at different times so there no specific age to be an adult.
    2. you crossover when you physically harm someone
    3. No they should not, killing someone yeah, but anything else you would have to really go into because there could be many factors invovled.

  50. 1.) I think that 20 years should be an Adult beacuse most people treat people in their 20's more like an adult because most life changing decitions are made in 20's
2.) You cross the line when you harm someones property, or harm someone else, or when you break other laws you are no longer deviant.
3.) NO! Teen should not be put in jail for life with out parole if they didnt murder some one that thats the only reason

  51. 1) Adulthood should be defined at age 18. This is the point when the majority of people will be leaving high school and either going into college or going into the working world. The biggest decisions and changes will be made at this time in a person's life, and they should have access to the resources to make those decisions. However, simply being 18 or an "adult" by definition should still not be what gives certain rights or privileges to people in society. They should be able to prove that they mature enough for those resources.

    2) Being a deviant is going against the social norm of society simply. It crosses the line to being delinquent behavior when it is against the law or is a failure of fulfilling obligations. Deviance, for example would be running in a store in order to get in and out quicker. Delinquency would be running around in a store in order to harass customers, destroy property, and steal items on the way out.

    3) It is proven scientifically that teens mature at different rates. There are some teens who simply make all of their decisions on impulse because they cannot slow down and think it through logically. However, there are others who are wise way beyond their years, and who understand the consequences of what they are about to do. It should depend on the person and the situation, but there should always be a chance at redemption for the person, no matter the age or the crime. There is a chance of change in every person no matter what, but every person is still different. It is a situational decision.

  52. 1)i think personally you become an adult when you have matured mentally and emotionally. once you realise that you cant depend on someone your entire life and that you need to have a strong sense of self to take on mature responsibilities succesfully.
    2) Deviance is going against any social norm. i think deliquincy is where abstract and or strange and taboo becomes illegal
    3) id say no just because jail the time after jail would give them a chance to make up for the choices they made as a delinquint.

  53. 1.) i think the age of adult hood should be 18. this is the general age when kids are allowed to go out and be on their own. At this age i think we should be held fully resposible for our actions.
2.) I think deviance isn't as serios as delinquency. A deviant may deserve to be punished but i think a delinquent would deserve to be punished with jail time.
3.)No i think at that young of an age a 18 could realize his or her problem and correct. i believe everyone deserves a second chance.

  54. 1)i think that eventhough people mature at different ages, society still must have an ideal age in which people can be treated like adults and be able to take on adult responsibilities, and just for the heck of it i think 18 years is a good age.

2)i think it all depends on how bad the crime was and how often someone does it

3)no i dont think so, because your mind hasn't fully developed to its potential in your teens and you never know if they did it due to peer pressure....so no. and it also depends of the crime too

    ReplyDelete
  55. 1)People mature at different rates, there are people I know at this age that are still far from mature. But generally, I think the age of adulthood should be 18, because at that age most people are getting to the point when they can look after themselves.
2)Deviance becomes delinquncy, in my opinion, when the behavior is unlawful and occurs very often and on purpose
3)I think it depends on the crime and charges, say, if a kid has been in trouble before and is violent, ends up beating a kid to near-death and gives him perminant injuries. Then the sentence should be very long, if not for life.

  56. 1.i think that people mature at diffrent times because if they are like 23 then they will act like 16 so its really about how they act.
2.to me it really is where the point stanads to like if its deciance or delinquncy.
3.well to me its like it really depends on the situation like if they killed someone then they should stay in jail. if they didnt do anything to the exreame then they should.

  57. 1) 21 because thats the leagle drinkin age and by that time in life you should be on your own
2)whenever you do something your not suppose to like rob a gas station or somethin aleagle
3)its depends on the cercumstances... if that do something like beat up or rob an old lady than absolutely

  58. 1.) What age should be the age of adulthood? Explain your answer.
I believe that the age of adulthood should apply to when you are supporting yourself and taking on the responsibilities of an adult. This would mean about 18 years when one has graduated from school.
2.) When do you cross over from being a deviant to being a delinquent? Explain.
I believe the difference between deviance and delinquency is the safety of others. When you are hurting someone without cause you are a delinquent.
3.) Should teens be sentenced to life without parole in non-murder cases? Justify your answer. I believe teens should be tried as adults at the age of 16. Crimes are the same without depending on your age. If a 40 year-old man kills someone and an 18 year-old girl kills someone they're both murder; they both took someone's life, as adults, and should be punished as such. I think if you can commit the crimes an adult does then your can he punished like an adult is.

  59. 1.) I think the age of adulthood should be 18 like it is now, because at that age a man or women, if raised right should be mature enough by then to be considered an adult
2.) the difference between deviance and delinquency is the safety of another person. someone that is hurting another person for no reason.
3.) teens should be tryed as adults because thats part of the reason some teens are causeing problames now, there are no real consiquences.

  60. 1) I think it should be left at 18 since that is the age at which an adolescent reaches physical maturity
    2) The difference between deviance and delinquency is that deviance is something that you do a couple times and then get it out of your system and delinquency is a life style in which you repeatedly & intentionally break the law
    3) If a teen is under 18 and commits a nonviolent crime then they should not be tried as an adult

  61. 1.) What age should be the age of adulthood? Explain your answer.

-I think someone is an adult when they are able to make their own decisions, that happen to be rash and well thought out. When they are mature enough to live on there own and not depend on anyone, including their parents, then I would consider them an adult. My sister, 24 and brother, 19, are not adults.

2.) When do you cross over from being a deviant to being a deliquent? Explain.

-Since deviant can also be a good thing, I would imagine the cross over would only be when you get caught for doing something illegal. If you don't get caught by authority, like police, you're a deliquent, but by your parents, your just a deviant child. Hah.

3.) Should teens be sentenced to life without parole in non-murder cases? Justify your answer.

-No. That makes no sense, and they would be living off people's taxes. That's annoying.

  62. 1.) What age should be the age of adulthoold? Explain your answer.
I'm not exactly sure but I kind of agree with the age of 18. It's hard to decide.
2.) When do you cross over from being a deviant to being a deliquent? Explain.
When you cause harm to someone else or yourself in any shape or form.
3.) Should teens be sentenced to life without parole in non-murder cases? Justify your answer.
It depends on what they have done, to be honest.

  63. 1.) What age should be the age of adulthoold? Explain your answer.
I think it should be whenever you move out of your parents house and can support yourself.
2.) When do you cross over from being a deviant to being a deliquent? Explain.
Deviance is like something you do a couple times. A deliquent crime is like a lifestyle.
3.) Should teens be sentenced to life without parole in non-murder cases? Justify your answer.
It depends, because if they like rape someone then I think yeah but if they just robbed a gas station then no.

  64. 1.) What age should be the age of adulthoold? Explain your answer.
to me the age of adulthood should be 20 years old for the simple fact thats the average age people are moving out and getitng to be on their own so they can do for themselves

2.) When do you cross over from being a deviant to being a deliquent? Explain.
i feel you crossover when you realize that what you are doing is wrong in the law's eyes but yet you continue to do it.

3.) Should teens be sentenced to life without parole in non-murder cases? Justify your answer.
no. i think they should be sentenced, yes, but not to life without parole

    1. 21. because a person should know every thing that they would need to know to keep themselves out of trouble by then.
2.after geting in trouble for comitting over 2 serious crimes because thats enough chances to learn from your mistakes.
    3. no i dont think anyone should.

  66. 1.) I believe that the age for adulthood should be different for different people, because it is true that we don't mature the way that we are suppose to, but in the 19th century children were leaving home at 18 years old and not looking back for help from parents, as for now-a-days children are dependent on their parents because parents don't want their children to leave them when they turn 18, and break their hearts, while other parents don't care when their child leaves home.

2.) When you're deviant it is different from peaing a deliquent, I think a deliquent is someone who breaks a major deviant more than twice, like stealing from a store on purpose

3.) no. i think they should be sentenced, yes, but not to life without parole

    ReplyDelete
  67. 1) The age for adulthood should be around the 17-18 year old range. I believe that this is when young adults begin to make decisions for themselves so therefore they should have to face the same consequences as adults do.
    2) This line is crossed when the crimes you are committing become dangerous and harmfull to you and others. A deviant is someone who paints the side of a building, but a delinquent is someone who walks down the street and beats random people up.
    3) I think this should be based on the crime. If a teenager shoots someone in the head and gives that person brain damage, then yes that teenager should sit in prison for a very long time. (LIFE)
